Method
- 1
Wash the potatoes and stab each one six or seven times with a fork. Skip this and one of them will burst in the microwave, which is not a maybe.
- 2
Full power for six minutes, turn them over, then five or six more. They are done when a knife goes into the middle with no resistance at all.
- 3
Heat the beans while the potatoes are going, in a pan or in the microwave once they are out.
- 4
Split them open and work the butter and a pinch of salt into the flesh with a fork before anything else goes near it. Butter into the hot inside is what makes it taste like a jacket potato instead of a boiled one.
- 5
Beans over the top, cheese on top of the beans. That order lets the heat coming off the beans melt the cheese. Cheese underneath just sits there cold.
